Understanding the Costs of Driving in a Changing Energy Landscape
In recent weeks, increases in gasoline prices have again become front-of-mind for many Americans, leading to broader conversations about the costs of the fueling and driving our personal vehicles. This webinar aims to demystify tradeoffs among different consumer vehicle types (e.g., new versus used, small cars versus large trucks, gasoline versus hybrid versus plug-in hybrid/extended range versus electric). For example, how do differences in upfront, fueling, and maintenance costs play out in the total cost of ownership? How do driving use cases and regional factors (e.g., local taxes, charging infrastructure) affect vehicle accessibility and affordability? How are automakers and consumers, both in the United States and internationally, responding to the changing global energy landscape? By presenting up-to-date data and analysis, the webinar will help to inform the conversation around the affordability of personal vehicle transportation.
