In both the private and public sectors, traditional business models and governance practices are undergoing significant disruption due to technology and the emergence of non-traditional players. During our sessions, we quickly encounter a pressing challenge: leaders often pay lip service to change without genuinely implementing new practices to sustain it. Ultimately, people will reflect what they can see, yet many leaders are ill-equipped to serve as effective role models. In general, individuals and groups tend to prefer conformity, choosing to “go along to get along.” This reluctance to stand out makes it difficult for most to embrace change, particularly when it involves taking risks.
