Exciting News from JET!
Getting around Jonesboro is about to get a little more nostalgic and a lot more fun. Jonesboro Economical Transportation (JET) has purchased five hybrid, rubber-wheeled trolleys. Though the trolleys are not yet ready for everyday use, JET is already showing them off at local schools, businesses, and community events. The addition of the trolleys to JET’s existing fleet will enable them to add new routes, including improved service to the Arkansas State University campus.
Other recent and upcoming changes at JET include six new paratransit vehicles, new route optimization software, 20 new bus stop shelters, and upgrades to 27 existing bus stop shelters. These improvements are made possible in part by low- or no-emission grant and facilities grant funding obtained by JET. Director of Transit Lee Wells said, “JET and the City of Jonesboro are thrilled for all the grant opportunities enabling us to bring our transit service into a more up-to-date standard and service more of our community.”
Stay tuned for updates, and get ready to ride the future of JET!
